PGA: Charles Schwab Challenge

I guess it’s Brooks’ world and we’re all just living in it. There’s no denying his talent and rare ability to perform in the clutch.  Is he likable? No. But there’s nothing wrong with that. Golf needs a villain. Just look how the crowds embraced Dustin Johnson’s charge on Sunday afternoon. I’ve never before heard support for DJ anywhere near that level. Tiger missing the cut definitely let some air out of the balloon, but our sport really does have its fair share of buzz amongst the sports landscape. Shout out to my friend Jordan Spieth. A non-bomber with absolutely nothing positive to lean on in his long game somehow managed a T3. Incredibly gutsy effort by a guy who’s a pleasure to root for. Hopefully he finds his ball striking sooner than later, because it really is fun to watch him think and grind his way around the golf course.

Off to Fort Worth, Texas and Colonial Country Club where our Major Championship hangover will receive a solid field + solid course pick-me-up in the Charles Schwab Challenge.  It sounds like some sort of Senior Tour team-scramble event, but I promise, this is a legitimate PGA Tournament.  Accuracy is the name of the game here as you can clearly see by skimming through previous year leaderboards. A true shot-maker’s golf course, Colonial Country Club offers an excellent test of golf year in and year out.

I’m looking forward to a great event and restoring some normalcy before we begin our prep for the US Open next month at Pebble Beach!
